Technology is the main catalyst for the digitalization of the electricity sector and consequently for the energy transition. We are adopting, at a very high pace and with visible results, a mix of digital technologies – Analytics, Big Data & AI, Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality, Blockchain, Mobile & social media, IoT & Drones, Robotics & Automation – that play a key role in this transformation process.
Growing technological dependence also brings with it emerging risks and, in this sense, all initiatives respect the high standards of system security and data protection norms. The new applications are aligned with the Cloud First strategy and based on Application Programming Interface (API), ensuring effective integration with Legacy systems (previously existing systems).
How do we do it?
- Implementation of a holistic portfolio of controls and progressive perimeter. Enables continuous improvement in cybersecurity and its adaptation to the current context, addressing technical, human and procedural aspects of the organization.
- Strategy of progressive evolution of applications to multi-cloud. Currently, 48% of our IT application portfolio is already in the cloud.
- Implementation of an IoT platform to integrate different sensing equipment. It is applied in different contexts and with different use cases, such as monitoring and management of Narrow-band IoT (NB-IoT) equipment or monitoring and management of public lighting controller.
- Placement of robots (robotic process automation or RPA) as a digital workforce and cooperative tools of our employees. Together they perform the repetitive and more administrative tasks. We have more than 80 RPA devices in production, corresponding to about 100 virtual employees.
- Creation of a digital incubation factory following an open innovation model with internal and external partners. This ensures the different phases of conception, evaluation and materialization of innovative ideas. More than 80 projects and applications have already been launched through Minimum Viable Products (mVP), combining different technologies that are immediately inserted into daily work routines, for different business contexts, from network driving, smart grids, maintenance of technical assets, energy management, among others.
