Interconnect

InterConnect will develop solutions for a digitalization of the power system based on architectures for the Internet of Things (IoT) which, with the help of several digital platforms and by using a universal ontology called Smart Applications REFerence (SAREF) ontology, will ensure interoperability between equipment and systems while preserving the privacy and cybersecurity of the data of different users.

The project, which will last for four years, is divided into eight fields of action: power grid, big data, cybersecurity, standardisation, ontology, digital platforms, IoT and cloud.

The project will develop seven large-scale demonstrators in Portugal, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece and France.

E-REDES scope

E-REDES leads Work Package 4: Smart Grids Framework for an Interoperable Energy System – that will design and implement a standardized Distribution System Operator (DSO) interface and the corresponding Application Programming Interface (API), setting the information and communication standards with a view to the integration of several market platforms, including existing and new systems, to harness flexibility services provided by market participants.

E-REDES also leads the Portuguese pilot, that will allow two types of consumers – residential and commercial – to access solutions that will connect them to the energy of the future.

The residential demo will be deployed in 250 households in 5 sites, countrywide. The commercial demo will be developed and installed in 12 retail stores also spread all over Portugal.
