Cookie Policy
The purpose of our Cookie Policy is to inform our users of how cookies and other tracking technologies are implemented on the E-REDES Portal (also referred to as the “Portal”; accessible here) and, when applicable, in the respective reserved area (“Reserved Area”), as well as provide information on the request tracking solutions (“Digital
Solutions”) offered by E-REDES – Distribuição de Eletricidade, S.A. (““E-REDES”). Within the scope of this Cookie Policy, the Portal, the Reserved Area and the Digital Solutions will be collectively referred to as “Digital Channels”.
We use cookies to ensure adequate performance, aligned with the expectations of Digital Channel users, as well as ensure the continuous improvement of the services provided and safeguard the security of the operations performed.
This Cookie Policy complements and should be read together with our Privacy Policy (available here), where the technical and organisational measures implemented to protect your privacy on the Digital Channels (Portal and Reserved Area) is detailed, including aspects related to the use of cookies and other tracking technologies.

A brief overview of cookies
Cookies are small information files stored in your browser when you access the Internet using a suitable device (e.g. computer, tablet or mobile phone). Depending on their category, cookies can perform a significant number of functions, such as ensuring security during access and use of the Digital Channels and storing user information, namely user preferences regarding the display or language used in the Digital Channels, in order to facilitate subsequent visits.
Cookies can be classified as follows, based on the entity responsible for the respective installation:
- First-party cookies – these cookies are sent to the user’s device through equipment or domains managed and used by E-REDES in order to provide the services requested by the User.
- Third-party cookies – these cookies are sent to the user’s device through equipment or domains managed by a third-party not controlled by E-REDES. In these cases, the third party involved may process the data collected by the cookies, including the respective transfer to countries outside the EEA. E-REDES may be unable to control their operation and/or prevent the transfer of collected data.
In some cases, the installation of cookies belonging to certain categories may involve the transfer of data to countries outside the European Economic Area, such as the United States of America. It is important to note that some of these countries lack an adequacy decision from the European Commission and may not offer a level of data protection equivalent to that offered by the European Union. Consult our Privacy Policy for more information on data transfer resulting from the use of these cookies.
Cookies can be classified as follows, based on the period of time during which they remain active:
- Session cookies – these are temporary cookies. These cookies are deleted from the user’s device when or shortly after the browser or application used to access the Digital Channels is closed. These cookies can be used for several purposes, namely to analyse web traffic patterns, which enables us to identify problems, ensure security and provide a better browsing experience.
- Permanent cookies – these cookies are stored for a longer period than session cookies. They remain stored on the user’s device after the browser or application is closed and are used in subsequent visits to the Digital Channels. These cookies allow us to customise the browsing experience according to the user’s interests and provide a more personalised service.
With respect to their purpose, cookies can be classified into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies – these cookies are necessary for ensuring the operation of the Digital Channels and/or the availability of required features, as well as saving browsing preferences on the same device, whenever requested by the user.
- Personalisation cookies – these are accessory cookies, i.e. not strictly necessary for the operation of the Digital Channels, but which may enhance the user’s browsing experience. Some of these cookies may transfer data to countries outside the European Economic Area.
- Analytical cookies – these are also accessory cookies used to collect statistical information. This information is used to analyse the use of Digital Channels and provide a better understanding of user interaction with these channels. When used together with certain advertising cookies, analytical cookies can also measure interactions and evaluate the success of our marketing campaigns. Some of these cookies may transfer data to countries outside the European Economic Area.
- Advertising cookies – these are also accessory cookies whose purpose is to ensure that the adverts that we display are more relevant and attractive to users and advertisers. This allows us to improve campaign performance reports and avoid displaying ads already seen or marked as not relevant by the user. Some of these cookies may transfer data to countries outside the European Economic Area.
Why do we use cookies on our Digital Channels?
We use the following types of cookies on our Digital Channels:
- Strictly necessary cookies;
- Analytical cookies;
- Advertising cookies;
The Portal, the Reserved Area and Digital Solutions may not always use the categories of cookies indicated above.
Users can find detailed information on the features and cookies used on our Digital Channels at the following addresses:

Can I customise the cookies used on the Digital Channels?
Only strictly necessary cookies can be stored and used without the user’s consent. E-REDES will only use other categories of cookies after obtaining prior and express consent. However, users should bear in mind that refusing to allow the use of other categories of cookies may limit certain Digital Channel features, especially those involving service personalisation.
Users can also adjust consent settings for cookies used by Digital Channels, by using the “Cookie Settings” options available for each type of Digital Channel.
Additionally, most browsers enable users to manage the cookies stored on the devices used to access the Digital Channels. Depending on the browser, users may have the option to immediately delete all cookies, block the installation of new cookies, receive notifications whenever a cookie is installed or use Private/Incognito Browsing, where tracking operations through the use of cookies are limited.

Users should note that the flexibility and capability of their browser to configure cookies may be limited, and that the level of detail offered may not be sufficient to allow them to identify strictly necessary cookies and adequately remove the remaining cookies when visiting websites. More specifically, using the browser to block cookies may affect the operation of Digital Channels. On devices that offer this type of functionality, users can improve control over cookies by using free extensions available online.
Changes to the Cookie Policy
E-REDES may change or revoke this Cookie Policy, entirely or partially, at any time and without prior notice, with immediate effect. Any changes relevant to users will be promptly disclosed on the Digital Channels. Users can access this information and consent to the changes, depending on the type of cookie in question.
