Smart Meters
We are equipping the electricity grid with smarter equipment capable of optimising operations and energy management, and ensuring a new platform for consumer engagement, while enabling us to act on our carbon footprint.
Between 2021 and 2025, we will invest over 217 M euros in smart meters (EMI) and distribution transformer controllers (DTC) to ensure 100% national coverage by 2024.
We have already surpassed the mark of 4 million smart meters installed in mainland Portugal (64%), with the perspective of avoiding more than 1,900 tonnes of CO2 in 2022.
InovGrid 20-30
We will invest over 632 M euros (OPEX and CAPEX) in research, development and innovation (R&D+i) and in digitalisation between 2021 and 2025, to develop and integrate technology into the Company's business, through a comprehensive partner ecosystem, and thus contribute to addressing the challenges of energy transition.
Charging electric vehicles
In the field of energy efficiency, we aim to foster the integration of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, achieving more than 40,000 new connections to the network of public and private access charging points since 2018. Last year alone, 4,390 new connections were made.
Self-consumption
Within the scope of the integration of renewable production, the commitment until 2025 is to achieve nearly 80,000 new connections of Production Units for Self-consumption, 205 new connections of PRE (production under special regime) and UPP (Small Production Units). In 2021, almost 41 thousand new connections of UPAC and 13 PRE plus UPP were made.
Electric Fleet
We are reinforcing the light electric fleet and installing private E-REDES charging points and production units for self-consumption in our buildings.
By 2021, we reached 13% of the light electric fleet and 244 private charging points. From the 20 UPACs installed in 2021, 346MWh of renewable energy were produced, which avoided the emission of 70 tonnes of CO2. By 2025, we estimate to avoid the emission of 522.5 tonnes of CO2.
