E-REDES reinforced its commitment to the Energy Transition and made it clear how this commitment has been fulfilled. Among the speeches by José Ferrari Careto and João Brito Martins, Chairman and Director of E-REDES respectively, different topics were covered, such as the state of play of the transition to LED luminaires and the operational plan for 2024; the importance of updating the register; tools for proactive management of quality of service; the new stage of control; the transition to remote management and multi-service IP; the Integrated Platform for IP Management and the vision of municipalities.
By investing in modernization and digital transition, E-REDES has managed to deliver a greener, faster and more controlled service to the municipalities that manage local energy.
If in 2023 we installed another 230,000 LED luminaires (an investment of around 25 million euros), we now have the goal of reaching the end of 2027 with total LED lighting throughout the country, with energy savings of around 100 million euros per year for municipalities. Achieving this goal will mean a reduction in the carbon footprint, with 140,000 fewer tons of CO2 emissions.
But these aren't the only challenges that smart grids bring in the field of public lighting, which is why we're working to ensure that other services, in addition to lighting, can be supported, such as electric vehicle charging points, WI-FI or surveillance cameras.
