E-REDES is one of the finalists in the 7th edition of the Portugal Digital Awards, an initiative of IDC Portugal and Axians, which rewards the best digital projects at national level. The GridDrone and Analytics4vegetation projects were nominated as finalists from almost 300 applications submitted and will be shared as examples of success cases in the main business schools in the country.
The GridDrone project illustrates E-REDES' efforts to improve the quality of supervision of overhead electrical networks through preventive maintenance inspections. Visual, thermographic, and LiDAR inspections using drones have demonstrated the potential to achieve significant cost savings and greater safety for the technical experts involved in these operations compared to ground and helicopter inspections. In addition, they are more sustainable because they allow for a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the use of helicopters.
The second finalist project, Analytics4Vegetation, consists of an advanced analytics solution that is effective in controlling vegetation, due to its ability to anticipate risk situations and allow proactive action by the teams. This platform makes it possible, for example, to predict vegetation growth, calculate the risk level of the associated network asset, and automatically execute a maintenance order for vegetation clearing, taking into account stipulated safety distances.
These two innovative projects, with significant impact on productivity and business sustainability, are a reflection of the Digital Transformation we have been carrying out, involving internal teams from all areas of the company and supported by strong technological and academic partnerships
