E-REDES, the EDP group company responsible for operating the electricity distribution network in mainland Portugal, has just launched a merit scholarship program for women, which includes a cash benefit of 2 thousand euros and participation in a Mentoring Program of the Company.
The E-REDES TOP WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP consists of a set of initiatives aimed at drawing young students' interest in technology and attracting young women graduating from Master's programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering, by awarding 10 scholarships and participation in recruitment processes for Professional Internships at E-REDES.
The promotion of gender equality has been assuming, nowadays, growing importance as a way to stop practices leading to discrimination against women, promoting their full participation and equal opportunities in the workplace.
For E-REDES, the program aims to contribute to equal opportunities between men and women in access to professional careers with strong demand and, at the same time, attract younger women to its staff, ensuring greater gender diversity and qualified resources to promote the energy transition.
In the week that marks Diversity, the Company is also promoting gender equality in its internal media, with a Diversity campaign whose motto is "Let's Balance Our Grid. For more female energy". The goal of this campaign is to draw the female audience's attention to the Company's core technical professions.
