E-REDES already has a recognized track record of participation in European Union projects, with a demonstration in Valverde, covered by the European Union programs Horizon 2020. A collaboration with the community has been essential since it provides benefits for consumers and allows the company to continue to leverage the results of various projects of Innovation and Development.
Involving 8 European Partners - ENERIM OY (Project Coordinator), CNET, E-REDES, ISEP, LUT, QUB, USE, VPS UoL - from 4 different countries Finland, Portugal, UK, and Spain, the project's goal was to test the concept of energy transaction between different residential consumers and prosumers taking advantage of their flexibility throughout the day, for the benefit of themselves, the community and the grid. In other words, a scenario, among others, where the surplus energy of one Consumer can be made available to his neighbor.
The DOMINOES project has thus attempted to simulate a market model, scalable at the European level, that allows access to renewable resources in local and wholesale market areas while maintaining the simplicity and benefits of using renewable resources at the local level.
As part of the project, studies were carried out in a real environment in Finland and Portugal, taking into account the pandemic context that has been experienced. A platform for the management of local markets was also developed, as well as an application that served to support the project participants.
Considering the growing European concern with local distributed production, the project marks an important kick-off in the study and evaluation of the potential of consumer/prosumer participation in P2P markets, with the practical application in the Parish of Valverde, in Évora.
