COVID-19 - Door-to-door scams - EDP Distribuição clarifies

Following the news that have emerged in recent days about cases of door-to-door swindling involving the name of EDP Distribuição, the Company informs that during the pandemic, the technicians of EDP Distribuição:

- are not changing the meter inside the Customer's premises;
- they are not making periodic inspection visits, except in urgent situations or at the Client's request;
- it should also be noted that EDP Distribuição never charges for meter changes;
- it also does not make door-to-door charges for any other service. 


Whenever you receive a visit from a technician identified with the EDP Distribuição logo, but who is not previously scheduled, do not open the door and call the local authorities immediately. 

You should contact the Company's support lines, whenever you have any questions about technicians' visits to your installation, by calling 808 100 100 (technical support).  

In exceptional cases it is important to clarify that whenever an EDP Distribuição team has to go to the installation of a Customer, the Company communicates the date and time of the visit in a timely manner by sending sms, email or by letter.
If the Customer cannot receive the technical team on the date and time proposed by the Company, they should contact the number 808 100 100 (technical support) to make a new rescheduling. 

During this time of pandemic, the collection of readings in the facilities whose meters are inside have been suspended, so that there is no contact with the Customer. In this way, the Company ensures that all security measures with its Teams and Customers are respected. 

The Company's technicians continue to collect the readings from the meters that are installed outside the premises. Nevertheless, all customers can use the digital channels of EDP Distribuição, including to give readings, through the site and APP EDP Distribuição, or the Contact Center service, accessible through the numbers 808 100 100 (technical support, 8h-22h, local call cost), 800 506 506 (electrical breakdown, 24h, free), or 800 507 507 (meter reading, 24h, free).
