EDP Distribuição provides essential services

The Minister of Environment and Climate Action issues orders that guarantee essential services in the protected areas.

Given the exceptional situation that requires the application of extraordinary and urgent measures to prevent the transmission of the virus and contain the expansion of the VOCID-19 disease, the orders signed by the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, João Pedro Matos Fernandes, aimed at guaranteeing essential services to the country, came into force at 00:00 today, March 23.

In order to ensure the continuity and uninterruptibility of the electricity distribution service, EDP Distribuição as a Distribution Network Operator providing a public service, must define the necessary teams to guarantee the following activities:

a) Management and operation of the dispatch centres of the National Electricity Distribution Network (high, medium to low voltage);
b) Management and operation of the infrastructures of the National Electricity Distribution Network (high, medium and low voltage);
c) Response to breakdowns and incidents in the infrastructures of the National Electricity Distribution Network (high, medium and low voltage); 
d) Repairing extended public lighting breakdowns;
e) Maintenance of protective strips and fuel management in situations of imminent risk;
f) Technical assistance to customer breakdowns; 
(g) Religions and urgent connections to customers;
(h) Scheduled service orders with customers.
