E-REDES has signed a protocol for the Top Women Scholarship mentoring program with eleven higher education institutions. This initiative is aimed at female final-year students from 23 master's degree courses in electrical and computer engineering from the north to the south of the country. In total, E-REDES awarded 30 merit scholarships worth two thousand euros, in a program that will begin in December 2023 and which kicked off with an awards ceremony for the students.
The eleven educational institutions stood out for their involvement and promotion of the program among their female students, who have now received their awards. This partnership is based on a commitment to promoting greater gender equality in careers in technology and the energy sector. The partner institutions include the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, the Faculty of Engineering of Universidade do Porto, Instituto Superior Técnico, Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, Universidade de Coimbra, Universidade de Aveiro, Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal, Universidade do Minho, Instituto Politécnico de Viseu and Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
The future female engineers who have been awarded the merit scholarships also have access to a mentoring program, with personalized support from one of 30 E-REDES mentors, which allows them to learn more about the activity of the Electricity Distribution Network Operator and professional opportunities in the energy sector. These mentors are tasked with assessing the mentees' performance and agility, and are geographically distributed across the different educational institutions.
In this second edition of the Top Women Scholarship there is also something new associated with the mentoring program, called Empowering You to Change the World, with the aim of enabling mentees to get closer to the E-REDES business, as well as creating a network of contacts with mentors and other company stakeholders.
The program starts in December 2023 and runs until June 2024, when the mentees receive feedback on their entire Top Women Scholarship journey.
