E-REDES formalizes partnership with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra

Making distribution grid data available on the Open Data platform to promote the energy transition.

E-REDES signs a partnership protocol with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, within the scope of the use of data from the energy distribution grid, to support several research projects.

Through the information made available on the Open Data portal on the energy landscape of the territory, the Distribution Operator promotes energy efficiency efforts and the implementation of renewable energies. The portal is available to anyone who wants to consult it and allows the knowledge and analysis of data regarding energy consumption, electricity network connections, operations and quality of service, production and consumption of renewable energy and electric mobility.

Shared data can help energy transition actors in a number of ways, by enabling more efficient efforts associated with this shift. Knowing more about consumption and smart meter registrations, for example, can help energy service companies target their solar PV sales campaigns. On the other hand, data on grid connections for e-mobility will enable efficiency gains in the establishment of charging infrastructure.

Open Data provides a history of data since November 2020 organized in 18 datasets and represents a reinforcement of E-REDES' commitment to the digital transition that has seen an annual investment growth of around 20% in the modernization and digitization of the grid, a value that exceeds 90 million euros in 2022.
