E-REDES launches Open Data portal

E-REDES launches this Monday a portal for free access and sharing of data from the energy distribution network throughout the country, with the aim of promoting the country's energy transition and enabling the possibility of developing smart cities projects.

The data we share can help players in the energy transition in a number of ways, by enabling greater efficiency in the efforts associated with this change. Better knowledge of consumption and smart meter registration, for example, can help energy service companies focus their solar PV sales campaigns. On the other hand, data on grid connections for electric mobility will enable efficiency gains in the establishment of charging infrastructure

The portal available to all who wish to consult it allows the knowledge and analysis of data on energy consumption, electricity grid connections, operations and quality of service provided, production and consumption of renewable energy and electric mobility.

"We want the relevant data from our activity to be increasingly available and used by society, in order to foster innovation and knowledge. For example, municipalities now have available information on the energy landscape of the territory, which can be useful for the promotion of energy efficiency efforts and implementation of renewable energy" adds Luis Tiago Ferreira.

On the launch day of Open Data, E-REDES signs a partnership agreement with Nova SBE University on the use of information from the portal to support research projects.

"This data sharing protocol with E-REDES reinforces Nova SBE Social Sciences DataLab's role as a vector for scientific collaboration between different industries and academia, while promoting the use of data as a tool to solve business and societal problems," says Alice Caetano, Project Manager at Nova SBE Social Sciences DataLab.

Open Data reinforces the E-REDES commitment to the digital transition that has seen an annual growth in investment of around 20% in the modernization and digitalization of the network, representing in 2022 a value that exceeds 90 million euros.
