On World Earth Day, which falls today, E-REDES announces that it has joined, for the third consecutive year, the "Portugal Chama" campaign, promoted by the Agency for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires (AGIF), with the aim of alerting the population to the need to avoid risky behavior and disseminate the precautions to be taken before and during the fire season.
According to data released by AGIF, the work developed in recent years by various public and private entities together with landowners, producer associations and other stakeholders of the Integrated Rural Fire Management System (SGIFR) has already produced results: since 2018, there has been a reduction of more than half the number of fires and the area burned.
As the operator of an electricity distribution network that is almost 180,000 kilometers long, about 28,000 of which are in forest areas, E-REDES is actively engaged in this joint mission.
