The PREDICTIVE GRID project, from the Directorate of Operation Management System (DGOS), won in the category of best future of intelligence project and best energy & utilities project of the Portugal Digital Awards 2020, in a ceremony that took place in digital and in-person format. The awards were delivered and the panel was discussed in person, in the Black and Silver room at Casino do Estoril, and was attended by João Torres, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EDP Distribuição.

These awards distinguish the most relevant projects, from all over the country, in the area of digital transformation.

The Company competed with three projects:

  • MOVE – finalist of the best future of operations project category
  • PREDICTIVE GRID – finalist and winner of the best future of intelligence project and best energy & utilities project category.
  • ANALYTICS4ASSETS.

IMOVE is a new mobility platform from EDP Distribuição, which supports all the activity on the ground of about 3500 teams, which are dispersed throughout the country. These perform about 60,000 daily operations on the ground, both in the area of asset management and in the area of technical-commercial management.

PREDICTIVE GRID is an artificial intelligence project to predict the severity level by geographic area, the impact of atmospheric phenomena on the network, based on the weather forecast and the characteristics of the electrical infrastructure.

ANALYTICS4ASSETS is a project for the development of advanced predictive models for the anticipation of problems in assets and investment planning and optimization according to the health index of the assets and their probability of failure.

This edition was the most popular ever, with about 350 applications. It should be noted that EDP Distribuição belongs to a restricted range of only four companies that managed to present more than one project in the final. In addition to EDP Distribuição, only Galp, Sonae MC and the Ministry of Health's Shared Services presented two projects each.

This distinction is an acknowledgment of the important role that EDP Distribuição plays in the national electricity system, reinforcing the excellent work of the entire company in this digital transformation process.
