The Installed Power Equivalent Interruption Time in Medium Voltage was 49 minutes, excluding the impact of exceptional events.
In the most representative indicator of service quality, the MV Installed Power Equivalent Interruption Time (TIEPI MT(*)), the Company recorded an improvement of 15% compared to 2018.
The remaining indicators, particularly those relating to the number and duration of interruptions, also evolved positively.
This general improvement reflects the company's good performance in consolidating the improvement in Technical Service Quality in electricity distribution achieved in recent years, while ensuring the reduction of asymmetries between the various regions of the country.
The recent Technical Service Quality Report for 2019 published by ERSE highlights as extraordinary the atmospheric events that occurred during the year (Helena, Elsa and Fabien), where the response capacity of the teams of EDP Distribuição, a company certified since 2015, in Business Continuity is evident.
The brand achieved results from a correct investment and maintenance policy in the national electricity network, having as main axes the increase in network resilience, the renewal and rehabilitation of assets, automation and digitalization in network management, along with optimization measures in operations, particularly in crisis situations.
This same strategy served as the basis for EDP Distribuição's recent proposal for the Development and Investment Plan for the National Electricity Distribution Network for the period 2021-2025 (PDIRD-E 2020), in which the Company proposes an investment of more than one billion euros in the electricity grid. This plan also reinforces the investment needed to meet the needs of the energy transition.
Also in this line, EDP Distribuição has already completed the installation of more than three million smart meters.
