EDP Distribuição reinforces high voltage grid in Lisbon

Intervention at Avenida da Liberdade will take place in the next two weekends (September 12th and 13th, 19th and 20th).

EDP Distribuição is strengthening the capacity to operate the high voltage power grid in Lisbon, in order to ensure the supply of resources to the western and central areas of the city, with high gains in the quality of service.

Since the beginning of this week, work has been underway to lay two high voltage electrical circuits underground between Rua Alexandre Herculano and Rua Castilho, passing through Rua Rodrigues Sampaio, Avenida da Liberdade and Rua Mouzinho da Silveira. Most of this work will take place during weekdays, from 8am to 5pm. Exceptionally, in the central strip of Avenida da Liberdade, the work will be done during weekends of September 12 and 13 and September 19 and 20, in order to reduce the constraints in one of the main arteries of the city.

In these two weekends, on Avenida da Liberdade, the works will take place between 8am and 6pm, so the traffic will suffer some conditioning in the area.
The normal functioning of the electricity distribution network will be entirely assured during this intervention.

This is the seventh section of an essential work to strengthen the quality of service in the country's capital, which began on May 27 of last year and whose investment represents 2.6 million euros.
EDP Distribuição and the Lisbon City Hall will always try to find the best solutions to minimize the impact of this work on the residents.
