EDP Distribuição will invest around 1.7 million euros in enhancing the quality of service provided to the various municipalities of the Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP). These interventions are part of a set of projects that the company has in its investment plan, which aim to ensure the redundancy of the electricity grid and, thus, the reliability of the power supply at AMP. In this sense, the company is remodeling about 14 km of Medium Voltage air network (MT) and the installation of 22 remote control and control points in the MT network.
This investment allows the Dispatch Center to act promptly, both in isolating damaged sections, as well as in service restoration or reconfiguration of the network, allowing to redirect the use of means and resources on the ground for troubleshooting. Additionally, it is also foreseen the requalification and reinforcement of insulation of MT equipment in 34 Transformation Stations (PT), which allows to eliminate the leakage currents and increase the useful life of the infrastructures, minimizing the disturbances in the electric grid and contributing to a better framing. infrastructure development.
The investments also include the installation of 12 new PTs, which eliminates voltage drops, reduces energy losses in the grid and ensures the availability of electricity for power increases and new requests for new customers from the various AMP municipalities. . Improvements to Low Voltage networks are also foreseen, as well as the connection of new customers, by strengthening and renewing existing networks, totaling about 27 km, applying current technologies, improving landscape and environmental integration and improving capacity building and increased reliability.
