Two of the measures with more visibility and direct impacts on the city hall building were:
-the rehabilitation of the entire historical building, with the installation of the installed Photovoltaic production unit, replacement of LED lighting and replacement of the windows for more efficient (measure of the responsibility of the city Council of Lisbon);
-The implementation of the integrated energy consumption and production management system, known as the Sustainable Energy Management System/SEMS (Measure of the responsibility of EDP Distribuição). The objective of this system was to implement a control system, with forecasting and optimization to:
- maximize the self-consumption of solar energy, harnessed the installed photovoltaic production unit
- minimise the costs of building electricity
The first measure has already allowed the municipality to reduce the building energy consumption by 50% and save more than 8000€.
The SEMS, installed since February, will allow the staff of the municipality responsible for the building, identify unnecessary energy expenditure and make the building a good example of promoting energy efficiency.
