Grid Access Tariffs - Pilot Projects

The National Electric System has undergone profound changes in recent years. The growing influence of production from renewable energies, of a more intermittent and less predictable nature, increases complexity in electricity grid management. It is in this context that it is important to introduce improvements in the tariff structure and in the location of the time periods that have been in force in recent years.

Aware of the importance of the introduction of new tariff schemes for access to grids, ERSE - the Energy Sector Regulator, decided to promote two pilot projects to evaluate the impact of the introduction of changes to the current structure of network access tariffs and a new dynamic tariff. EDP Distribuição was entrusted with the operational implementation of those pilots.

The Pilot Projects of Access Tariffs to Medium, High and Very High Voltage grids lasts for one year and began on 1 June 2018. Learn more about the Pilot Projects through the document: "Guide on pilot projects to improve the tariff structure and introduce dynamic tariffs in access to networks", prepared in articulation with the electricity suppliers, under the terms established in Directive no. 2/2018 of ERSE.
