EDP Distribuição now with 800 operational staff on the ground

The rain and thunderstorm of last night restricted the recovery work of the medium voltage grid in the Central region which was hit by the fires last weekend.

Meanwhile, the operation of helicopters is now possible, which has facilitated the establishment of priorities, allocation and coordination of resources on the ground, now with 800 operational staff - plus 200 operational staff mobilized from other regions of the country.

We expect the medium voltage grid to be fully restored next morning. In the most critical situations, 2 Mobile Power Plants and 23 Emergency Generators have been installed. The recovery works of the low voltage and transformer substations are also already underway, and a significant improvement is expected in the next few hours.

EDP Distribuição estimates that the electricity supply will be fully restored by next Friday. At this time the most critical areas are located in the municipalities of Pampilhosa da Serra, Tábua, Arganil and Oliveira do Hospital.
