EDP Distribuição repaired all faults and strengthened teams on the ground

During dawn today, the electricity distribution grid was heavily affected as a result of adverse weather conditions, particularly in the North - Viana do Castelo, Braga and Vila Real regions - with strong gusts of wind and rain. The impact of the storm was noted in particular between 03:00 and 06:00 in the morning.

There was damage to the distribution grid, in particular 50 broken poles leading to the fall of power lines. EDP Distribuição reinforced its operational staff, with around 500 employees in the field, supported by 200 vehicles and 12 emergency generators. Thanks to the work of these teams, it was possible to conclude by the end of this morning the repairs of all the faults in the medium voltage grid that occurred during the night.

Faced with forecasts of worsening weather conditions from late afternoon onwards, EDP Distribuição maintains the state of alert for the operational teams on the ground, its articulation with local and national civil protection structures and a permanent link to the IPMA weather agency to guarantee updated information.
