Information for Industry Professionals: Power Control Switch replaces Power Control Circuit Breaker in new installations

As part of the evolution of the low-voltage smart grid project - Inovgrid - which includes the installation of technologically more advanced metering equipment, we would like to inform you that the new EDP Distribuição plant no longer installs the Power Control Circuit Breaker.

This decision stems from the fact that the new meters - called EDP BOX - are equipped with a Power Control Switch (ICP), a device with redundant functions of the Power Control Circuit Breaker (DCP).

This simplification of equipment and assembly in the installation of customers is good news for the national electrical system, as it introduces greater operational efficiency and agility in the relationship between the Distribution Grid Operator and Customers. Progressively, the EDP Box allows changes (1) in the power contracted in a remote way, avoiding the need for technical teams to travel to the customer’s location and the presence of the customer. Stay tuned in on the the site for the news that we will publish on this matter, for there will soon be updates of interest to you.
