Every year between 1,000 and 2,000 MV/LV transformers with mineral oil enter the public distribution network.
Natural Ester of Vegetable Origin for Transformers has appeared on the market as an alternative to the mineral insulating oil normally used:
- Characteristics equivalent or superior to those of Mineral Oil.
- Biodegradability characteristics - reduced environmental impact.
- Much higher flash point.
The environmental impact and better performance in terms of fire behavior led us to proceed with the application in a real environment of around 50 MV/LV power transformers. Samples of the ester have been taken periodically for laboratory analysis with very positive results.
From the results achieved, E-REDES went ahead with the standardization and adoption of distribution transformers with insulating media in Natural Esters, as well as the adoption of this same technology in neutral reactors and auxiliary service transformers in primary substations.
The adoption of this technology of renewable origin is yet another contribution by E-REDES to the circular economy, with a technology that can be reused in the production of biofuels, paints, lubricants and integration into new products, reducing environmental impacts.
