In the municipality of Sines, E-REDES is working on the project to build the new Sines substation and the respective high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) network, electrical infrastructure with an estimated investment of 7.6 million euros, which will supply around 1,800 residential customers and eight business customers.
Construction of the new Sines substation, an E-REDES infrastructure that will integrate the national electricity system, is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Work has already been completed on the execution of the special foundations, the creation of the platform and the construction of the civil infrastructure, and work is currently underway on the electromechanical contract.
In addition to the new substation, which will have an initial installed capacity of 31.5 MVA, the HV network will also be built, which will feed the substation and the entire new MV network to be interconnected to the existing one. The new infrastructures will make it possible to increase production reception capacity on the National Distribution Network (RND) and improve the quality of service on the MV network south of the city of Sines.
This project will contribute to the energy transition in the high-demand area of Sines by providing connection capacity to the RND network.
For the construction of this substation and electricity distribution network, in addition to the entire internal structure involved in the management and realisation of this project, E-REDES relies on the involvement of various business partners.
These new infrastructures are part of the company's policy of investment and maintenance in the electricity network, the main axes of which are improving the supply of electricity, increasing the resilience of the network, renewing and rehabilitating assets, automation and digitalisation in network management, as well as optimisation measures in operations.
Information on the distribution network's substations (HV) and transformer substations (MV) can be found on the Open Data Portal - Homepage - E-REDES (opendatasoft.com).
