The implementation of the FIRMe project, which seeks to sensitize market agents to adjust their consumption/generation profile, has affirmed E-REDES as a facilitator in this "flexibility market".
During the period in which the competitions for the 8 opportunities identified in the FIRMe project took place, potential flexibility service providers registered their assets and placed bids on their offers. In this way, and as recommended in the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030, E-REDES contributed to the objective of decarbonizing the electrical system.
The first auction, which attracted 21 service providers willing to offer this flexibility to the distribution network, surpassed the results of the first auctions carried out by other counterparts, thus demonstrating the potential of this new market in Portugal.
The initiative culminated in a ceremony to formalize the bilateral contracts between E-REDES and representatives of the entities selected according to the competition rules: Municipality of Bragança; BA Glass Portugal; Tratave - Ave Wastewater Treatment; BioSmart - Environmental Solutions; Vizelpas Flexible Films; Neiperhome; Elergone Energia, Endutex and Águas do Centro Litorial.
José Ferrari Careto, president of the Board of Directors of E-REDES, highlighted the relevance of the initiative for the energy transition, as well as the need for greater investment in infrastructure that supports increased consumption, emphasizing the importance of dynamic, adaptable networks and resilient, prepared to respond to the electrification of the economy.
