The launch event for the 4th edition of the Digital Academy for Parents took place on February 2 and brought together around 150 guests in a face-to-face session at the Salvaterra de Magos school.
The initiative, which began in the 2020/2021 school year, has already impacted more than 7600 families from the north to the south of the country, through training given by more than 3100 student volunteers.
In this 4th edition, 853 schools have already signed up to host three different courses for parents who want to increase their skills in the digital world. The three courses are Basic Digital Skills, Digital Security and Citizenship and Digital Consumer.
The event included the participation of Cristina Novo, from the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, who spoke about the importance of digital literacy for educators, and a panel debate in which some parents and volunteer trainers who have already been through the project took part.
The session ended with speeches by Maria João Horta, deputy director-general of the DGE, Hélder Esménio, Mayor of Salvaterra de Magos and José Ferrari Careto, President of E-REDES.
