On November 10, we held the 2nd edition of the Energy and Territory Meeting, an initiative organized in partnership between E-REDES, the National Network of Energy Agencies (RNAE) and the University of Évora.

Over the course of 4 panels, with the participation of professionals from the sector, researchers, members of the scientific community and members of Energy Associations and Agencies, relevant topics were addressed in order to face the challenge of the Energy Transition in Portugal, namely: how efficiency in the construction of buildings can contribute to mitigating energy poverty; to what extent the Energy Communities are changing the traditional paradigm of the electricity sector; and what challenges the Municipal Climate Action Plans bring to our country.

Digitalization in data management was another of the themes highlighted, with the various stakeholders present highlighting the potential of the Open Data Portal, and during the event two Open Data Collaboration Protocols were signed between E-REDES, RNAE and the University of Évora.

"The protocol signed is a paradigmatic example of the relationship between academia and the business community, which will make it possible to streamline the whole process of accessing Open Data and open the way to new innovation work, enabling new research into data," said Paulo Quaresma, Vice-Rector of the University of Évora.

For Carlos Santos, President of RNAE, "the availability of information on data (consumption, mobility, electricity grid, among others) and the signing of protocols within the scope of Open Data are fundamental to the work of the Energy Agencies".

The event was also attended by Alexandre Varela, Deputy Mayor of Évora and Nelson Lage, President of ADENE, at the opening of the session and with the participation of Professor Carlos Zorrinho as keynote speaker.

The aim of the Energy and Territory Meeting is to promote the discussion of issues relevant to the sector in a decentralized way and close to the players with an active role to play in the challenges that arise, such as Companies, Associations, Municipalities and Intermunicipal Communities and Academia.
