INTERRFACE

The INTERRFACE project will design, develop and operate an Interoperable Pan-European Network Services Architecture to act as an interface between the energy system (transmission system operator and distribution system operator) and customers, enabling the integrated and coordinated operation of all stakeholders in the use and acquisition of network support services.

Under the project, some state-of-the-art digital tools based on blockchain and big data technology will be developed and tested, providing new opportunities for consumer involvement and participation in the electricity and grid support markets, enabling the harnessing of distributed energy resources.

Goals
  • Design an Interoperable pan-European Grid Services Architecture (IEGSA) that will connect market platforms in a transparent, non-discriminatory manner and will enable a pan-European electricity exchange linking wholesale and retail markets and the trading of energy services.
  • Design, develop and deploy a reference IT infrastructure – to materialise IEGSA architecture and facilitate the operation of the aforementioned services and the adaptation of energy market tools.
  • Test state-of-the-art digital technologies, such as Blockchain and IoT, for p2p (peer-to-peer) energy transactions that promote local markets and smart asset management.
  • Mitigate congestions and activate local flexibility resources for system balancing services through innovative platforms, operated by transmission system operators and distribution system operators in a coordinated manner.

E-REDES scope:

As a partner, E-REDES leads Work Package 2 and the user needs task.
It contributes to the survey on existing tools and applications, while contributing to Work Package 9 for stakeholder management and engagement in the project.
